Frankfurt

Frankfurt is one of the few European cities with a large cluster of high rise building in its downtown area and the town is therefore sometimes referred to as "Mainhattan" (a combination of the local Main river and Manhattan).

Frankfurt went through a first high-rise building boom in the 1970s; during that time, the city saw the construction of nine buildings over 110 metres. The city has now 31 buildings which rise at least 100 metres in height, more than any other city in Germany; the highest building is the TV-Tower ("Ginnheimer Spargel") with 337m and the highest office skyscraper is the Commerzbank Tower with 299m. As of October 2017, there are 540 completed high-rises (of more than 22 meters) in the city.
